Dedicated to all things STEM
What is STEM?
"In The Galaxy Trust, I am certain we have the next generation of scientists that will change our world for the better. Just imagine – it could be you! We are excited that within The Galaxy Trust we want to ignite the imaginations of each and every pupil, to enable them to follow their own path – and for some this will be within the very important areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics."
Garry Ratcliffe, CEO of The Galaxy Trust
What do you think of when I say the word 'scientist'? I bet it's a man in a white coat, with crazy hair and a crazy attitude! This website is based on proving this as not the case; for STEM is so much more...
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
It's not just about these four areas though! Every realm of learning incorporates the fundamentals that a child needs in order to be successful in their STEM future.
"It gives children a sense of purpose that can boost their confidence and improve their self-esteem, by providing them with the tools to focus and make good decisions." Year 6 Teacher, Fleetdown Primary Academy
"Albert Einstein has said, 'Creativity is intelligence having fun'. Encouraging children to be creative whilst learning is the key to their success in future." Year 1 Teacher, Fleetdown Primary Academy
"Science enables children to understand the world around them whilst DT provides skills to allow them to problem-solve; both are essential to preserve and develop the world we live in." Year 2 Teacher, Fleetdown Primary Academy
"Children are our future; they shape and mould the way society is moving. STEM uses our children's ideas as building blocks on the path to discovering a better tomorrow." Year 6 Teacher, Fleetdown Primary Academy
"Hands on experiences and adventure in school, including visitors from these careers, really inspire our young people and help to scaffold their futures." Year 1 Teacher, Fleetdown Primary Academy
"The goals of children today will create the future that we live in tomorrow." Year 3 Teacher, Fleetdown Primary Academy
